Popular Comedian, Ayodeji Richard Makun, aka ‘A.Y’, has condemned the blaming of celebrities over the death of protesters. A.Y posted on his Instagram web page stating that celebrities partook both online and offline in the protest on #endsars and Police brutality and that pinning the death of individuals on the celebrities was inappropriate. He stated that some protesters and security personnel lost their lives after the peaceful protest turned violent following the infiltration of thugs and hoodlums.
He added that some of the celebrities were lending their voices online which began with “please add your voices”, however, they were asked to “get off their tweeting fingers by being part of the protest on the streets. he stated “When we also did and lost some of our youths in the struggle, they are now asking “How come no celebrity was reported dead too?
Passing the blame to any celebrity is an inappropriate response to the death of our fellow compatriots in the battle for a greater Nigeria. “At the same time as we mourn our brothers and sisters, let’s keep our attention to our set targets, and be much less involved in any type of orchestrated distractions. “Let’s stop discouraging the people who joined us all in making our voices heard, regardless of how low. “Your liking or disliking any celebrity doesn’t matter as we respect ourselves as human beings. Let’s not make our solutions to the problem be as bad as the problem itself. “We shall all be alive to witness that NEW NIGERIA of our dreams soonest,” he mentioned.
